With the night dance demonstration on May 1 coming up, here is a brief legal input with the most important information about the demonstration.
On the way to and from a gathering, you may not be controlled by the police without cause. A legal assembly is a group of at least 2-3 people who have not been banned by the police and who express their opinion via signs, banners or slogans. Before the police break up an assembly, they must announce this 3 times in advance for all to hear.
Assemblies should be registered in Germany, but the participation in an unregistered demonstration is not punishable and this is still considered an assembly. Only after the police has dissolved it, the participation is prohibited.
It is not allowed to bring objects that are interpreted by the police as weapons or protective weapons.
Apart from obvious things like knives, firearms or pepper spray, you should not bring steel-toed shoes, wooden or metal bars and protectors.
Water, snacks and suitable clothing should not be missing!
Also bring plenty of good mood and your friends.
Here’s to a powerful May 1st!
